Megan and Evan celebrated their August 29th wedding at Oak Meadows Farm & Venue in Greeneville, Tennessee. Their day was colorful, joyful, relaxed, and completely true to who they are as a couple.
I first had the opportunity to photograph Megan and Evan earlier this year during their engagement session at Carvers Gap in Roan Mountain State Park. The mountain setting was perfect for these two, especially because Evan loves the outdoors. Getting to spend that time together before their wedding made it even more special to photograph them again as they officially became husband and wife.
A Wedding Design Inspired by Both of Them
Megan is bubbly, sparkly, and outgoing, while Evan is quieter and more reserved. Their wedding design brought those two personalities together beautifully.
Dark navy blue and cool-toned sage green created a simple, timeless foundation, while deep hot pink and pops of purple added the bold color and personality that felt unmistakably Megan. The same colors appeared throughout their florals, reception décor, wedding party attire, and even the smallest details.
Megan completed her bridal look with the most perfect pair of chunky hot pink heels, finished with bows on top. They were playful, colorful, and so completely her.
Their wedding décor managed to feel bold and simple at the same time: colorful and full of energy for Megan, but still classic and understated enough to reflect Evan.
A Pondside Ceremony at Oak Meadows Farm & Venue
Megan and Evan exchanged vows beside the large pond at Oak Meadows Farm & Venue. A cross decorated with colorful florals by Flowers by Tammy framed the ceremony site, with the water and surrounding greenery creating a peaceful East Tennessee backdrop.
Evan’s father officiated the ceremony, adding another personal and meaningful element to the day. The ceremony itself was short and sweet—which was honestly perfect, because August in Tennessee was living up to its reputation. It was incredibly hot outside, but the property offered plenty of mature trees and shaded areas where everyone could cool down and where we could continue taking portraits comfortably after the ceremony.
One of my favorite things about Oak Meadows was how quiet and private the entire property felt. Everywhere we went offered another beautiful setting without losing that peaceful, tucked-away atmosphere.
Golden-hour portraits by the Chapel
Along with the pondside ceremony location, Oak Meadows Farm & Venue also has a chapel on the property. Megan and Evan knew they wanted photographs there, so we returned during golden hour as the light softened.
The chapel, open field, distant hills, and warm evening light created one of the prettiest settings of the day. It also gave Megan and Evan a few quiet minutes together before heading back into the reception.
Those golden-hour portraits felt especially fitting for a couple who loves the outdoors. They were relaxed, joyful, and surrounded by the natural beauty that made Oak Meadows such a wonderful choice for their wedding.
Tacos, Margaritas, & Cappuccino Crunch Ice Cream
The reception continued the same navy, sage, pink, and purple color palette from the ceremony. The décor was bright and joyful without feeling overwhelming, allowing the space—and the people inside it—to remain the focus.
Guests enjoyed dinner from the La Perla taco truck, while Appalachian Bartending served margaritas. The Creamy Cup was also there with an ice cream stand, including a cappuccino crunch flavor that was genuinely outstanding.
Evan’s aunt Debbie made the wedding cake and cupcakes. The cake was simple and elegant, hand-decorated with delicate pearls and florals that matched the wedding colors. It was such a beautiful addition to the reception and made even more meaningful because it had been created by someone in the family.
Once the dancing began, one of the best moments of the entire night belonged to Megan’s Grammy. She absolutely busted out the moves on the dance floor and made everyone’s night. Those unscripted, joy-filled moments are always some of my favorites to photograph because they capture the people and relationships that make a wedding day so meaningful.
A Sparkling Bubble Send-Off
Megan and Evan ended their wedding with a bubble send-off surrounded by their friends and family. In the photographs, the bubbles caught the light and looked like hundreds of tiny sparkles floating around them.
It could not have been a more Megan-coded ending to the day.
From the colorful florals and hot pink heels to the quiet golden-hour portraits and packed dance floor, their wedding brought together everything that makes them who they are. It was bold, timeless, sentimental, playful, and full of genuine joy.
